On January 13, principals and directors from the Southeast Delco School District visited the Reading School District as part of a unique professional development exchange program.

The visit provided the opportunity for administrators to learn from their counterparts through a job shadowing experience and facilitated discussions. Throughout the day, participants attended one-on-one meetings, job shadowed in schools and classrooms, and engaged in discussions. Topics covered included family engagement, comprehensive planning, and human resources organizational structure.

“We are grateful for the incredible opportunity to visit the Reading School District,” said Dr. Yamil Sanchez Rivera, Superintendent of the Southeast Delco School District. “The hands-on, real-world learning experience provided our principals and directors the opportunity to gain practical insights and best practices that they will bring back to benefit our students and schools. I look forward to seeing the impact this experience will have on learning in our district.”

The Southeast Delco Blue Knights team spent the morning job shadowing the Reading School District Red Knights. They observed key activities, including student arrivals and the use of weapon scanners during entry. Principals met with leaders from schools of similar grade levels for additional shadowing and discussions.

District directors spent the morning in individual meetings with their direct counterparts. They then enjoyed a tour of Reading High School and the Welcome Center.

This exchange program is part of a larger district initiative to provide meaningful and engaging professional development opportunities for its teachers and staff.
